Women make up nearly half of all managers

The insurance industry has a relatively balanced gender breakdown. In 2021, women made up just over half of the workforce (54 percent).

Since the early 2000s, the proportion of women has consistently been higher than the proportion of men.

From 2002 to 2008, the percentage of managers increased steadily. Since then, the number of managers as a percentage of total employees has been about 10 per cent.

The percentage of women who are managers has risen steadily over time. In 2002, just over 36 per cent of managers were women. In 2021, the corresponding share was 47 percent, that is nearly half.
